One challenge we continue to hear from manufacturers: “We CAN find a foundry. We CAN'T find one that wants our kind of work.”

Large casting. Small run. Complicated core package. Specialized alloy. Tight timeline... Those requirements can quickly narrow the field.

That is why understanding a foundry’s actual operating range matters before sending the RFQ. Trumbull is built around flexibility, including:

🔥 Castings from 1-3,000 lbs.
🔥 Low-to-medium production runs
🔥 Heat sizes as low as 100 lbs.
🔥 Complex cored castings
🔥 Custom-developed alloys
🔥 Rapid and emergency production

Congratulations to the Youngstown State University American Foundry Society team on winning Cast in Steel and taking home the grand prize!

We're especially proud of this one. The team's George Washington-inspired sword was poured right here at our Ohio facility, and YSU team member Ely is part of our Trumbull Foundry & Alloy crew!

Watching a casting come off our floor and go on to win a national title... now that's the kind of work we're proud to be part of. So proud of the YSU team that made it happen!

Watch the finale to see the competition and meet the students behind the sword: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95vrpn4OXMc

Congratulations to the entire team.

Foundry work does not reward shortcuts.

It takes experience. Heat. Precision. Problem solving.

And a solid crew willing to keep pushing until the job is right.

That mentality has been passed down through generations of American manufacturing, and at Trumbull, we are proud to carry it forward.

Bringing casting work back to the U.S.?

Trumbull Foundry & Alloy pours ferrous castings from 1 lb. to 3,000 lbs., with the flexibility to support low-to-medium production runs, complex cored castings, and rapid-response requirements.

For manufacturers rethinking an overseas supply chain, having the right domestic foundry partner can change the everything.

"Can this foundry support the way we actually need to manufacture?"

THAT is the important question.

For OEMs evaluating foundry partners, the lowest piece price doesn't always mean the lowest total cost. And a casting quote only tells part of the story.

Lead time. Tooling. Machining. Minimum runs. Material requirements. Communication when something changes...

It all matters, and a foundry that recognizes that is where the right partnership starts.

A casting can work on paper and still create costly problems in production... Early foundry input helps catch issues with wall thickness, draft, cores, tolerances, and material selection before tooling is locked.

Fewer surprises.
Less rework.
A faster path to production.

Since 2008, our “can-do” philosophy has driven us to take on complex casting challenges that other suppliers may avoid. What began in Niles, Ohio, has grown into a dedicated team operating from a 150,000-square-foot facility.

Today, we carry the Mahoning Valley’s manufacturing tradition forward, serving customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond with the flexibility, experience, and problem-solving mindset needed to keep difficult projects moving.

Got a part with no drawings? We can still cast it. Nick Smith, our Process/Quality Engineer, walks through how Trumbull uses reverse engineering and 3D scanning to turn a physical part into a production-ready casting... no prints required.

Other foundries expect you to bend your part to fit their process. We build the process around what the part actually demands.

That means working through complex cores, pouring specialized and proprietary alloys like our TPX, D3, D3+, and TM9 when off-the-shelf specs won't hold up, and running low or medium-volume jobs without treating them like an afterthought.

If you've got a part that needs done, reach out.
