Opening every popout and pinhole on this upright slab.
Last photo: repair product going on — and getting pushed right back out of the holes. Best guess is a siloxane-type admixture in the original mix.
That's smart for a PNW outdoor slab — it helps with freeze/thaw and keeps moisture from wrecking the concrete over time. The downside? It fights anyone who comes later to repair and repolish. I'm sure that wasn't part of the thought process when it was poured — why would it be?
We adapt. Next step: take enough face off so product will stick.
