The future of advanced nuclear fuel is taking shape in Oak Ridge. ⚛️

Join Camden and Nikki in Oak Ridge for a look at the progress underway on TX-1, our first commercial TRISO-X fuel fabrication facility.

Once operational, TX-1 is expected to be the first purpose-built commercial TRISO fuel fabrication facility in the United States, establishing a new domestic source of advanced nuclear fuel to support the deployment of our Xe-100 reactors.

With a new phase of construction underway at our fuel campus in Oak Ridge, we brought DOE's EnergyCast on-site for a first look at the interior of our first-in-the-nation fuel fabrication facility. Each day, our growing team of technical and executioners takes one step closer toward a secure, domestic, supply of safe, reliable, advanced nuclear fuel.

We're hiring for roles across construction, operations, project management, engineering, and more. And if you want to help build the future of American energy leadership, come join us.

Another milestone for TRISO-X in Oak Ridge, Tennessee: TX-1 is advancing to its next phase of construction.

Once operational, the facility is expected to produce 700,000 TRISO-X fuel pebbles annually—enough to support up to 11 Xe-100 reactors—and become the first commercial U.S. facility dedicated to fabricating TRISO fuel for advanced reactors.

The progress at TX-1 represents another step toward building a secure, commercial-scale domestic fuel supply chain to support the deployment of advanced nuclear energy.

X-energy, TRISO-X and Oak Ridge National Laboratory are extending a partnership that has helped advance TRISO fuel technology for nearly a decade.

Through a new 30-month cooperative research and development agreement, our teams will continue working together to optimize fuel fabrication, improve fuel quality and yield, and explore new TRISO-based solutions for advanced reactors.

The collaboration has played an important role in TRISO-X’s progress from pilot-scale research toward commercial manufacturing, and it continues to help build a stronger, more resilient domestic supply chain for advanced nuclear fuel.

X-energy has signed a definitive agreement with Centrus Energy to secure the HALEU enrichment services needed to fuel a portion of our first Xe-100 reactors through the fabrication of TRISO-X fuel.

The agreement connects Centrus's American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, with X-energy's TRISO fuel fabrication campus in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, strengthening a secure, all-American nuclear fuel supply chain. It's an important step toward delivering the first commercial deployments of our advanced nuclear technology while supporting American energy security and long-term energy leadership.

"We have to work together to solve the challenges ahead—from strengthening the supply chain to developing the next generation of nuclear talent." -Carol Tansley, X-energy Vice President, Projects

This week at the U.S. Women in Nuclear National Conference in Seattle, the X-energy team joined leaders from across the industry to celebrate how far we've come while helping shape what's next. From thoughtful conversations and technical insights to new connections and shared experiences, the week was a reminder that innovation is powered by community.

We're proud to be part of an industry where talented women are advancing nuclear energy every day and grateful for the opportunity to learn from, support, and celebrate one another.
