Last Friday, St. Louis Community College welcomed students and industry partners for Women in Manufacturing Day at their brand-new Advanced Manufacturing Center — an event designed to introduce young women to the opportunities and potential within advanced manufacturing.

A highlight of the day was a panel of four local female apprentices sharing their journeys, including Seyer’s own, Ava Turner. Ava spoke directly to high school students from local districts, sharing her experience as an apprentice and inspiring the next generation of women to consider careers in the manufacturing trades.

To cap off the event, Ava was surprised with a $10,000 scholarship from Seyer Industries to support her continued education in State Technical College of Missouri’s Precision Machining Program. Congratulations Ava!

A special thanks to Career WayZ - USA, led by Cynthia Walker, whose guidance and support have been instrumental in connecting area youth with pathways into technical education and manufacturing careers.

This past Saturday, we hosted our first merit badge event, "Blueprint to Build"! In partnership with Greater St. Louis Area Scouting , Scouts earned merit badges in Drafting and Metalworking through hands-on learning.

Scouts built skills by rotating through 3 workshops:

Manual Drafting
CAD/CNC Basics
Metalworking/Metallurgy

By the end of the day, Scouts had learned how to draft, model and machine a part on our CNC machine for their matchstick holder project (pictured below).

We want to give a special thank you to GSLAC, Tera Gunderman, Tom Kroenung and the 40 scouts that participated.

‘Tis the season of giving!

Over the past month, employees have picked lights off our board and contributed gifts for donation to Sts. Joachim and Ann Care service. Of which, is the largest service provider for individuals, families and children in the Tri-County area; protecting families from the despair and social injustice caused by poverty.

On Thursday, Seyer employees kindly volunteered to wrap all 80 gifts donated. We appreciate all who participated and contributed to spreading holiday cheer this season! Thank you!
