Think open height and stroke are minor details for a press brake? Think again.

Ignoring these specs when selecting tooling or bidding on contracts can lead to costly mistakes. Every press brake has a defined open height and stroke—knowing them saves time, effort, and money.

Quick Guide:
✅ Open Height: Measure from the bottom of the upper beam to the top of the lower beam in the fully open position (account for holders/adapters).
✅ Closed Height: Same measurement when fully closed.
✅ Stroke: Subtract closed height from open height.

Other Considerations:
• Space between punch tip and die top matters.
• Overloaded brakes make part removal difficult.
• Deep channels or boxes require extra open height.
