Progress continues at the Millbourne Garden project as pathways begin taking shape throughout the gardens.

To preserve the beauty and health of the site's mature trees, air spading is being used to carefully excavate around existing root systems. Arborists are working alongside the project team to identify and protect roots that will remain in place as construction progresses. The pathways are then stoned and covered, marking another significant milestone in the project's development.

When complete, the gardens will feature approximately 2,500 feet of walking trails, much of which will be wheelchair accessible. This commitment to accessibility will make Millbourne the first publicly accessible garden of its kind in York County, creating an inclusive space where visitors of all abilities can enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape.

Progress continues across the Zaxby's project in Perryville, MD, as several key elements come together. Base paving is complete, light pole bases are being installed, and the metal roof is nearing completion. Inside the building, drywall installation is now underway. Crews are also forming the sidewalks and drive-thru area as site and building work continue to advance.

Our annual Employee Appreciation Picnic was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our team. Employees enjoyed great food, fellowship, and a little friendly competition throughout the day.

Congratulations to our co****le champions, Tom S. and Boomer T., and runners-up, Conner S. and Denny B. We also introduced a Hole-in-One Contest this year, where 8 employees won an extra day of PTO by sinking their shot.

Permanently out of the office! 🏁

After more than 50 years in construction and 15 years with Stewart & Tate, Senior Estimator Larry Brandt has made his final check-out on the office in-out board. This time, it’s permanent!

From hands-on carpentry to a career in estimating, Larry has had quite the journey. Now, he and his wife are heading to Florida, where he plans to spend more time following his favorite pastime—car racing—and, in his words, doing “as little as possible!” 😎

For 50 years, Jay Stiffler has been an important part of the Stewart & Tate team.

Jay began his career with what was then known as Stewart & March in June 1976 at just 18 years old, joining the company as a laborer. Five decades later, he serves as a Foreman with our Sitework Group, bringing years of experience and knowledge to the projects he helps lead.

When asked about the first project he worked on with Stewart & Tate, Jay remembered a project at York Hospital. There’s something fitting about that answer: as Jay reached his 50th anniversary with the company, he found himself working at York Hospital once again—this time as part of the team constructing the new WellSpan York Hospital Surgical & Critical Care Tower.

Jay wasn’t looking for a big celebration to mark his milestone, so we found a more personal way to recognize his 50 years of service. To commemorate the occasion, we asked Jay’s co-worker and friend, Paul Raymond Godfrey, who is also a local artist, to create a portrait of Jay.

Tim Tate, CEO & President, Ryan Tate, Executive Vice President, and Adam Felix, Executive Vice President of the Sitework Group, presented Jay with the portrait and thanked him for five decades of dedication to Stewart & Tate.

From a young laborer starting his career in 1976 to a seasoned Sitework Group Foreman working on a York Hospital project 50 years later, Jay’s story is a great example of the experience, dedication and lasting relationships that have helped shape Stewart & Tate.

Congratulations, Jay, and thank you for 50 years!

We’ve had the opportunity to manage multiple construction projects for CCM over the years, making it especially meaningful to spend the day together while supporting an organization whose mission is to be a leader for people with disabilities and their families.

After 46 years in the construction industry, Gary Rineer is retiring and beginning a new chapter filled with more time for the things he enjoys most!

Gary began his construction career in 1980, working his way from a laborer and equipment operator to a field supervisor. Over the years, he continued to grow his career, taking on roles in estimating, project management and operations. Gary joined Stewart & Tate in 2016 and spent the past 10 years as a Senior Estimator/Senior Project Manager with our Sitework Group. His extensive field experience, estimating knowledge and project management expertise have made him a valuable member of our team and a knowledgeable resource to those around him.

One of his favorite places to spend his free time is his cabin in Clinton County, where he hunts and rides snowmobiles and side-by-sides. He’s looking forward to having more time to enjoy those activities in retirement.

We appreciate all Gary has contributed to our company and wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement!
