Armscor Employee Wins Prestigious International Ballistics Student Award!

Gail Ndlovu, an Engineer at Armscor’s Flamengro division, has received the prestigious Jack Riegel Student Award at the 35th International Symposium on Ballistics (ISB2026), held in Cape Town on 28 October 2026.

Recognised for her research into advanced composite materials for hybrid rocket fuel grains, Ndlovu becomes the second South African and third African recipient of the award.

Reflecting on her achievement, Ndlovu credited Armscor for supporting her academic journey from undergraduate studies through to her PhD and providing valuable industry experience that inspired her research.

“My goal is to use the knowledge I have gained to strengthen Armscor’s research capabilities and contribute to advancing South Africa’s defence technologies.”

Her achievement underscores the importance of investing in local talent, scientific research and innovation, while inspiring the next generation of South African scientists.

As cyber threats evolve, so must the skills and technologies needed to respond.
and the Unisa - The University of South Africa (Unisa) have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cyber-defence education, research, training and innovation.

The partnership will support the Armscor Defence Cyber Academy, bringing together academic expertise and practical defence requirements to advance specialised cybersecurity skills and capabilities. In doing so, it will strengthen cyber-defence through knowledge, innovation and strategic partnerships.
