THE MILMAN EDIT: Will it look the same as your last house?

The number one question we get asked. But this time around, we wanted to move away from the mostly white palette of our last home and introduce more warmth, texture and colour, while still creating something that feels timeless.

Think Calacatta Viola, timber, travertine, terracotta, brass, pink-toned stone and maybe a little green checkerboard.

Some of these decisions were made months ago. Others will probably be made five minutes before we need to order them. 😅

This week’s Milman Edit is all about the finishes shaping our modern Queenslander, what we’ve chosen, why we chose them, and the few decisions we’re still trying to make.

PROJECT SALISBURY - A restrained palette of crisp white, warm timber and dark accents gives this exterior its character, while the screening, greenery and changing textures add layers without overwhelming the architecture.

We especially love the way the timber screening creates privacy while still allowing light, air and glimpses through, practical but also a beautiful feature in its own right.

THE MILMAN EDIT: Framing the View

This week’s edit is all about windows, and there were a lot more decisions involved than we expected!

Timber vs aluminium. Single vs double glazing. Louvres vs sliders. Frame colours. Glass tint. And, of course, working out how to maximise as much of that beautiful outlook as possible.

For us, the goal was to make the windows almost disappear — framing the views, catching the breezes and letting the outside become part of the home.

Swipe through to see what we chose, why we chose it and a few lessons from our last house that definitely influenced the decisions this time around.

THE MILMAN EDIT: Timber flooring.

Choosing flooring is one of the biggest decisions you'll make when building a home. It's something you walk on every day, so it needs to look beautiful while also standing up to real family life.

This week we're sharing why we chose engineered timber, why polished concrete wasn't the right fit for our home (despite loving it), what we learnt from our last house, and the lessons that helped us find the perfect floor this time around.

If you're building or renovating, we hope our experience helps make your decision just a little easier.

Swipe through to see what we learnt.

A well-designed bathroom is more than just a beautiful space. It's where the day begins, where it ends, and where thoughtful design can make everyday routines feel just that little bit more special.

From soft, calming palettes to bold feature tiles, natural stone and custom joinery, each of these bathrooms has been designed to reflect the home and the family who use it.

Swipe through a collection of some of our recent bathrooms, each unique in its own way. Which one would you choose for your own home?

We’re at that exciting stage where everything is starting to come together... and for the first time, it really feels like a home.

Swipe through for a walkthrough of the different zones and see how the spaces are taking shape. There’s still plenty to do, but it’s amazing to see months of planning and countless decisions finally becoming reality.

This is a behind-the-scenes look at how the photos and videos you see actually come together. Behind every finished image is a lot of planning (and sometimes a little bit of madness). Last week's shoot for Project Broseley involved climbing onto the roof to do some last-minute landscaping, sneaking into the neighbour's property to capture the perfect angle, and filming the same shot... at least 10 times... until it was just right.

It's all worth it though, because this project deserves to be captured perfectly.

For now, you'll have to make do with my iPhone behind-the-scenes footage. But trust us, the professional photos and videos are on another level. We can't wait to share them with you.

Project Kent - The Confidence of Colour. This home is defined by two bold colours that work in harmony – a calming soft green and a rich burgundy.

Today, it's all about the burgundy. Rather than using it as an accent, it was embraced as a feature. It creates a strong visual thread that connects each space while adding warmth, depth and character.

Would you be brave enough to introduce a statement colour like this into your home?

Project Kent - The power of colour. This home embraces two bold colours that bring personality and warmth to the home, a rich burgundy and a soft sage green.

Today, we're shining the spotlight on the green. This calming hue gently softens the crisp white palette. It changes beautifully throughout the day as natural light moves through the home, creating quiet moments that make each space feel more relaxed and inviting.

Which would you choose for your own home – the calming green or the rich burgundy?
