Project Nellie - From the timber bi-fold window connecting the kitchen and garden, to the polished concrete floors and layered textures throughout, every detail was designed to feel both beautiful and functional. A home that feels just as good on a quiet morning coffee as it does when filled with family and friends.

Can AI design a home better than we can?

No! But it can help us make decisions.

One thing I’ve learnt through building our own home is that I’m a very visual person. And if I’m honest, I’m also incredibly indecisive when it comes to design details.

That’s where AI has been really helpful. Recently, I wasn’t 100% sold on the placement of the wall lights in our kitchen. I had a design in mind, but before locking anything in, I uploaded a render and asked ChatGPT to show me a range of different layout options in the space. It took plenty of prompting and refining, but eventually we landed on something that felt right.

The interesting part? The option I originally had in mind isn’t the one we’ve chosen.

Being able to visualise different layouts, materials and design details before spending money or making changes has been incredibly valuable throughout our build. It’s not replacing architects or designers, but it is helping us explore ideas and gain confidence in the choices we make.

Lastly, can you guess which option we’re going with?

Project Nellie - Stairs that do more than just connect levels. These thoughtfully designed stairs shape the way a home feels, bringing in natural light, creating moments of pause, and becoming a feature in their own right, whilst still being practical for everyday living.

Project Kent - proof that the back of the house can be just as sweet as the front. A blend of old and new, where the original brickwork meets a darker modern extension.

Project Milman - it's slowly starting to feel less like a building site and more like a home. There’s still plenty to do, but all the layers are coming together. The curves, the natural light, the little details we’ve obsessed over for months… all starting to take shape.

Project Kent - a bold burgundy thread woven throughout the home connecting each space together.

From the joinery and staircase to the checkerboard tiles and furniture selections, the colour creates a sense of continuity and warmth while giving the home its own identity.

Sometimes the most impactful design decisions are the ones repeated consistently throughout a home.

Project Grove - it’s exciting seeing this one all starting to come together. From structure to finishes, the last few months of progress have completely transformed the spaces and you can now really feel the home taking shape.

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, but with the finish line getting closer, it’s rewarding seeing all the details and planning begin to come to life.
