It was a proud night for Georgiou at the Master Builders Western Australia (MBAWA), with two of our outstanding projects taking home top honours:

RAAFA Stirling Apartments won the Lifestyle Housing for Seniors – Retirement Villages category

Toyota WA Parts Distribution Centre won the Commercial/Industrial Construction $50M-$100M category.

We’re incredibly proud of the hard work, care and excellence of the teams behind these award-winning projects.

We also congratulate every finalist, nominee and winner celebrated on the night. It was a brilliant showcase of the projects shaping Western Australia.

Construction continues on the new multi-deck car park being built as part of the New Women and Babies Hospital Project, with the first suspended slab successfully poured recently!

This milestone represents a significant step in the project's vertical construction, with the structure now rising above ground level. Supported by the stair and lift core, the suspended slab forms the first of multiple elevated parking levels that will make up the new multi-deck car park.

The achievement reflects the hard work and coordination of the project team within the live hospital precinct.

As Georgiou continues to grow across Western Australia and Queensland, four leaders are taking on key roles to support the work ahead.

Simon Welfare now leads our three Western Australian business units as Executive General Manager – West. Peter Hopfmueller has stepped up to General Manager – Engineering after 18 years with Georgiou. And Damian Percy has joined us in Queensland as Operations Manager, bringing East Coast infrastructure experience to a business unit growing fast ahead of 2032.

We've also welcomed Adrian Matthews as Alliance Director on the Tonkin Extension Alliance, following Peter into the role.

Different states, same reason: putting the right structure and the right people in place for the work ahead.

Congratulations to Simon, Peter and Adrian, and welcome to Damian.

The Reid Highway Interchanges Project in Perth’s northeast is hitting it’s stride — We’re seeing strong progress across the board:

🔹MSE panels installed at both Altone Road and Drumpellier Drive / Daviot Road bridge abutments

🔹 Over 30,000 tonnes of asphalt laid, with 30% of paving complete

🔹68% of drainage installed with street lighting works well underway

🔹Structural works on all four shared path underpasses are taking shape

By completion, we’ll deliver around 166,000m² of new road surface — the equivalent of an 8-metre-wide road stretching for more than 20 kilometres.

There’s more to come, with bridge beam lifts and traffic switches set to unlock the next stage of works. We’re also bringing creativity into the project, with large-scale mural concepts now in development for the underpasses.

A huge effort from the team to get us here.

The conversations that shape our industry don't just happen on site.

Next week, the Georgiou team will be at TMR’s Engineering, Innovation and Technology Forum, joining industry leaders, clients and partners to share knowledge, explore new ideas and discuss the future of transport infrastructure.

This year’s theme, “Delivering value – where risk and opportunity converge,” reflects the way our industry continues to evolve through collaboration, innovation and practical engineering solutions.

Whether you’re keen to talk project delivery, technical innovation or what’s next for Queensland, come and say hello to the team at the Georgiou Booth. We'd love to chat.

See you there.

830 metres beneath the seabed. One incredible journey.

After travelling 830 metres beneath the seabed, Rhiannan, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) at the Belmont Desalination Plant, has successfully completed her journey.

Following a successful push-off from the primary bulkhead on 10 July, the TBM was safely retrieved in a carefully coordinated marine operation on Sunday, 12 July. The operation concluded with Rhiannan being lifted onto the retrieval barge before returning ashore to the Port of Newcastle.

Congratulations to everyone involved and in delivering another complex engineering milestone safely through planning, collaboration and technical expertise.

Delivered for John Holland as part of Hunter Water’s Belmont Desalination Plant, this showcases the value of combining STRABAG’s international tunnelling expertise with Georgiou’s local civil infrastructure capability to deliver complex engineering outcomes safely and efficiently.

First Nations participation was embedded from the outset as a shared Alliance priority.

Through trusted partnerships, culturally grounded engagement and Alliance-wide commitment, Aboriginal participation became part of how the project was delivered every day.

From pre-employment programs and workforce development to procurement, cultural integration and legacy planning, First Nations participation was embedded across the Alliance as one connected effort to create meaningful opportunities beyond project delivery.

Watch this short video below to hear how this approach was brought to life on the Hexham Straight Widening project and the lasting impact it continues to create.

The first trapezoid unit that will form this new pedestrian and cyclist underpass was successfully installed this year by the Tonkin Extension Alliance team, delivering the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade project.

Designed to efficiently distribute loads while reducing the amount of material required, the trapezoid shape delivers both structural performance and construction efficiency. A clever piece of engineering and another great milestone as the project continues to progress.

The Tonkin Extension Alliance is comprised of Georgiou, Main Roads Western Australia, BG&E, BMD Group, Civcon Civil and Project Management, and GHD Group.
