Our offshore wind team joined hundreds of primary and secondary school students as they competed at The National Science and Engineering Challenge Gippsland events this week. ⚙️

We were proud to sponsor events at Korumburra and Sale, and our team helped officiate and judge challenges including designing wind turbines, building fish traps and constructing a bridge. Schools across Gippsland, where Iberdrola Australia holds a feasibility licence for the proposed Aurora Green Offshore Wind Project, competed for a possible place in the Victorian state finals.

👏 Huge congratulations to the winners, Foster Secondary College and Gippsland Grammar!

This is our second year sponsoring the Gippsland leg of the National Science and Engineering Challenge, a STEM outreach program run by The University of Newcastle, Australia that gives students hands on engineering challenges to complete. 🧠

The Gippsland competition brought together 16 schools from across the region over two days, with support from Regional Development Australia Gippsland, Regional Development Victoria, South West Skills and Jobs Centre, Wellington Shire Council, South Gippsland Shire Council, Bass Coast Shire Council, major sponsor Lockheed Martin Australia and all the other great sponsors involved this year.

Fantastic to see so many worthy local community groups receive funding as part of our Ararat Wind Farm Sustainable Community Grants Fund. Thanks to Ararat Rural City Council for helping to coordinate the program and do the tough work of selecting the recipients.

Ararat Wind Farm’s 2026 Sustainable Community Grants Fund is helping bring a fantastic mix of local projects to life across our region, with several community groups in Ararat Rural City among this year’s recipients. Successful organisations include Ararat VRI Bowls Club, Ararat Women's Shed and surrounds, Ararat City Band, Ararat Jailhouse Rock Festival, Central Grampians LLEN, Ararat & District Junior Football Association, Lake Bolac Memorial Hall, Moyston Progress Association and the Write Away Group, delivering initiatives that boost social connection and support long-term environmental sustainability in our communities.

Administered by Council on behalf of Ararat Wind Farm, the program provides funding of up to $7,500, or up to $15,000 with matching contributions, to support projects that improve local health and education, strengthen regional resilience and keep communities active and engaged. Partnering on initiatives like this is all about supporting our region for the long haul, and Ararat Wind Farm’s community investment program continues to make real, practical contributions to life across Ararat Rural City and neighbouring municipalities.

We congratulate all of this year’s recipients and look forward to sharing more updates as their grant projects come to life over the coming months.

Last week, we celebrated NAIDOC Week and 50 Years of Deadly. National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week is officially celebrated in the first week of July, with this year's celebrations running from 5 to 12 July. ❤️💛🖤

In recognition of National NAIDOC Week, we hosted several initiatives across the business throughout last week.

Last Tuesday, Kaitlin Riddiford from Supply Nation delivered an insightful presentation on the social and economic value of First Nations businesses, highlighting how organisations like Iberdrola Australia can support Indigenous suppliers through our membership. Employees across our Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney offices also enjoyed catering from First Nations-owned businesses.

On Wednesday, we were privileged to host Leann Wilson, a descendant of the Bidjara and Kara-Kara peoples and Managing Director of Regional Economic Solutions. During a company-wide team engagement session, Leann shared personal insights and engaged the organisation in a lively conversation, followed by a Q&A session.

Throughout the week, 50 Years of Deadly wristbands purchased from a First Nations-owned business were distributed across our offices and sites, helping recognise the significance of NAIDOC Week and sparking conversations about its meaning and importance.

We were proud to sponsor and attend the Australia Wind Energy (AuWE) 2026 Conference in Melbourne, connecting with suppliers, industry leaders and stakeholders from across the renewable energy sector. 🔋⚡️

Iberdrola Australia was well represented throughout the event, with conference speakers Marcus Dowling, Stephanie Easton and Nicola Pero sharing their expertise and insights on offshore wind development, energy market reform and community participation in renewable energy projects.

Across the two-day conference, our team met with suppliers and industry peers to discuss local capability, workforce development and the opportunities ahead for Australia's wind sector.

⚡ On Wednesday, the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) hosted a fantastic event in Sydney focused on BESS Technology & Development.

🔋 We heard from Nikita Iulchenko, Head of Commercial & Legal at Altenso Australia, and Phoebe Holland, graduate at Iberdrola Australia. They shared valuable perspectives on where battery energy storage is heading — from the shift toward longer-duration systems to new delivery models and the commercial changes shaping the National Electricity Market (NEM).

A special mention goes to Phoebe for her excellent presentation on storage duration and government tenders in the NEM. It’s always great to see early-career professionals stepping confidently into conversations that will help shape the future of the energy sector.

We were in Moranbah, Central Queensland, this week to launch the & Iberdrola Australia Scholarship Program — $75,000 over three years.

Joined by Kelly Vea Vea - Mayor Isaac Region and CUC Isaac Board Chair Melissa Westcott - Councillor - Isaac Division 3, it was great to see so many students, education providers, and community members come together.

These scholarships will support students to study and stay in the towns and regions where they were raised, while they pursue further education.

Country Universities Centre Isaac plays a vital role in enabling regional students to study locally by providing a free, quiet and safe study space for students completing nationally recognised qualifications.

Today, ASL announced the outcomes of South Australia’s first Firm Energy Reliability Mechanism (SA FERM) Tender Round (Tender 1), establishing an initial pipeline of long‑duration firm capacity to support a secure, reliable and affordable electricity supply as the state progresses towards net 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2027.

As part of this, Iberdrola Australia’s Tungkillo BESS (270 MW / 1,080 MWh) is one of six projects awarded a FERMA, where it will contribute 100 MW / 800 MWh of committed capacity. Across all six FERMA projects, a total of 517 MW / 4,136 MWh of committed output capacity will be delivered to support the SA electricity network.

As South Australia continues its shift towards renewable energy, policies like the SA FERM play a key role in maintaining the security and reliability of the state’s electricity system, while also supporting more affordable electricity supply.

Last night, we celebrated the eight Gippsland students awarded scholarships to help them in their studies at Federation University Australia’s Gippsland campus in clean energy industry adjacent fields. 🎓

This marks the second year of Iberdrola Australia supporting Gippsland students through scholarships, helping create pathways into higher education and careers in industries shaping the region’s future.

Gippsland is home to the Aurora Green Offshore Wind Project, which we're developing off the Gippsland coast. As part of our commitment to the region, Iberdrola Australia has committed $500,000 over 10 years towards scholarships at the uni's Gippsland campus.

The scholarships aim to inspire more women to pursue STEM careers, support First Nations students through tertiary pathways, encourage Gippsland talent to stay local, and create opportunities for students that may otherwise not have been accessible.

This week Iberdrola Australia joined CS Energy and Squadron Energy in Clarke Creek, QLD to announce a jointly funded $750,000 contribution to upgrade the Telstra tower at Broadsound, bringing better coverage, connectivity and improved safety to households, farms and businesses across the region.

The kind of infrastructure that makes a real difference to everyday life. 📡

The renewable energy developers in the region, including Acciona AU & NZ, Tilt Renewables and Isaac Regional Council have been working with the local community to deliver improvements on a regional scale.

Along with the communications upgrade, the group is focused on road improvements that keep the community and our workers are safe.

Support landholders and farmers with real and practical solutions like a feral pig management program, better biosecurity practices and sharing of information across projects.

Workforce planning on regional scale, education pathways, as well as streamlining how we engage with the community to avoid consultation fatigue.

Working together makes sense, it means we can do more, and ensures we can deliver for a region, not just a project.

Another milestone at Broadsound Solar Farm and Battery last week, with the team installing the final solar panels. 🌞

All 609,522 solar panels are now in place, a huge step forward for the project.

Across the site, more than 91,000 piles were driven and 7,006 trackers installed. 🏗️

Behind it all is a mechanical installation team of 110 people, with close to half identifying as First Nations. All part of a workforce of hundreds working to finalise this important project. 👷‍♂️

A proud moment for the team, and a reflection of the scale of what’s been delivered in Central Queensland.
