🏒 House League or Community Hockey? Not sure which is right for your family?
Choosing a hockey stream can be confusing for families who are new to the sport. Both House League and Community Hockey offer a fun and rewarding experience, but each comes with different levels of commitment, development opportunities, and team activities.
To put it simply:
🏒 House League = More predictable schedule, lower commitment.
🏒 Community Hockey = More development, more ice time, and additional team opportunities such as tournaments and team activities.
No matter which path you choose, we’re excited to welcome players back for another great season of Cougar hockey!

Southwest Hockey Association is now accepting applications for the U13 AA Head Coach position for the 2026–27 season.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead, inspire, and develop young athletes both on and off the ice. We’re looking for a passionate leader who can build a positive team culture, foster player development, and proudly represent the Southwest Cougars.

Southwest Hockey Association is seeking a passionate and experienced Manager of Hockey Operations to help lead the future of Cougar hockey.

This is a unique opportunity for a hockey development professional to make a lasting impact on players, coaches, and families across our association. The successful candidate will oversee player development programming, provide coaching mentorship, support evaluations, and help shape the long-term development pathway for Southwest Hockey athletes.

We’re looking for an individual with strong hockey knowledge, leadership skills, and experience delivering high-quality development programs who is excited to help our players and coaches reach their full potential.

🏒 Competitive salary plus incentives

🏒 Mentor coaches and support evaluations

📣 Cougars Give Back is back for another season!
One of our favourite Southwest Hockey traditions, Cougars Give Back encourages our players and teams to get involved in the community and demonstrate the true meaning of Cougar Spirit.
Over the years, our teams have made a difference in countless ways—from shovelling snow and volunteering at animal shelters to visiting seniors’ centres and organizing food bank drives. We couldn’t be prouder of the impact our players have made both on and off the ice.
We can’t wait to see the creative and meaningful ways our Cougars choose to give back this season. Together, let’s continue making a difference in our community—one act of kindness at a time.
