Great listen on the latest BrashAg podcast, featuring Jonathan Trotter from Agrii.

Jonathan spoke about how Agrii is approaching agtech adoption in a practical, value-led way, including their use of our Skippy Scout platform to support more efficient crop monitoring and better on-farm decision making.

He covered the realities behind technology advances, from keeping up with rapidly evolving drone platforms, to ensuring that tools genuinely improve agronomy rather than adding complexity for technology's sake. The discussion extended into emerging applications like on-farm drone-in-a-box solutions for automated data collection and faster turnaround, and the growing potential for more targeted, precision applications across crop protection and nutrition, including UASS systems i.e. drone sprayers.

All-in-all a very interesting conversation!

Thanks to BrashAg and Jonathan for talking about us!

In episode 82 of the Brash Ag Podcast, Jonathan Trotter, Technology Trials Manager at Agrii, joins hosts Raymond King CEng MIAgrE and Kit Franklin to discuss the role of technology trials, applied agronomy and practical farming experience in shaping the future of agriculture.

We're pleased to announce that we'll be exhibiting at a brand-new national festival for 2026 -- The Great British Farm Fest 2026 at Stoneleigh Park from 22-24 May 2026.

Bringing together the best of British farming, food, music, and rural life, the event celebrates the people and produce at the heart of agriculture -- from livestock and machinery to leading voices across the industry.

We'll be attending as exhibitors, showcasing our focus on drone innovation in agriculture and how aerial technology and precision data are helping to shape the future of modern farming.

The Farmers Weekly coverage of Agrii’s “Field of the Future” trial demonstrates the value of combining multiple data layers rather than relying on satellite imagery alone.

By incorporating Skippy Scout drone-based field intelligence alongside satellite analysis, agronomic decisions were better grounded in real field conditions, leading to a reported 26% uplift in margins.

As the article shows, Skippy’s role in validating and refining satellite-derived insights is a strong example of how integrated data systems are shaping the next phase of precision agriculture.🌾🚜

Practical guidance for the season ahead 🌾🚜

With workloads set to increase, now is the time to make sure your equipment and software are fully prepared.

Before heading into the field, check your firmware, calibrate your drone's compass if needed, inspect propellers for damage, and clean the camera lens and obstacle sensors.

In Skippy Scout, update your crop cycles, review any new fields, and check for hazards that may not appear in the database.

Take time to tidy your scout points by deactivating or removing unnecessary ones and adding new points where needed to support consistent monitoring through the season.

Make sure you are running the latest version of Skippy Scout to benefit from recent improvements.

If you need any support, our team is here to help.

We have introduced an updated oilseed r**e model 🌾

This latest version estimates both crop and w**d coverage during key mid-season growth stages, from emergence through to flowering.
It marks a clear improvement in accuracy compared with the previous model, giving you more reliable insights to support in-season decisions and greater confidence in your field assessments.

Another step forward in helping you see what is really happening in your fields.

Last week, we said goodbye to one of our longest tenured colleagues Emma Scorror, and we want to take a moment to recognise the huge impact she has had during her time at Drone Ag.

Bringing a strong agricultural background and GIS expertise into her role, Emma played a key part in bridging the gap between farming knowledge and technology. Her understanding of the industry helped ensure that what we built with Skippy Scout was genuinely useful and relevant to the people using it.

Emma has been central to shaping Skippy Scout into what it is today. From managing the Skippy Soil R&D project, to leading early GIS feature development, including the report heatmaps and field import functionality that many of our users rely on.
Emma also worked for a very long time on the earlier iterations of ML model development, including laborious hours and days on annotation and segmentation, and backend and database work that has left a lasting mark on the platform, not to mention the years of feature and release testing she has done behind the scenes.

She was also instrumental in the conceptualisation and building of the original Spheres UI MVP, helping to bring arguably our most impactful feature to life.
We could continue on this thread ad infinitum, but beyond Skippy itself, Emma worked closely with customers old and new, supporting onboarding, managing relationships, and representing Drone Ag at many trade shows and demos with professionalism and energy.

Emma, thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and the many contributions you have made over the years, including the many we haven't mentioned here. You have been a valued part of the team and you will be greatly missed.

We wish you all the very best for what comes next.
