The annual D.H. Lawrence celebration returns to Eastwood and surrounding areas in Nottinghamshire this August and September, with 20 events for all the family covering music, literature, heritage, visual arts, family and community.

Broxtowe Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure, Councillor Teresa Cullen, said: “D.H. Lawrence’s legacy continues to draw people into Eastwood, and the festival always gives such a boost to the town.

➡️ And what also stands out to visitors and residents alike close to the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum is Westdale North's retrofit work on homes in and around a conservation area, including Princes Street.

Ensuring that heritage, authenticity and conservation goes hand in hand with energy efficiency and warmth, Westdale's refurbishment project in Eastwood certainly delighted Museums and Collections Officer Carolyn Melbourne.

She said: "It would have been a real loss had that facade been lost altogether. It would have been a great detriment to this quarter of the town, and the street itself is one of the most authentic Victorian terraced streets that you can think of.

"It is great to have it preserved, and it is wonderful that [the work done] will give it that longevity."
