Where does the time go?!

Fifteen years ago Westdale (then known as Westdale Services) were appointed by Durham County Council to deliver a £2.142 million regeneration project to around 300 Victorian Terrace houses in Craghead, utilising Structherm’s EWI system with an eye-catching, fresh looking ArtBrick finish.

Properties saw their appearance dramatically rejuvenated, while preserving their original period character, with an uptake of 99%, resulting in the regeneration of an entire community.

It is always pleasing to see a planned project enjoying a positive outcome, that benefits people and the community in which they live.

Westdale North's refurbishment of hard-to-treat crosswall homes in Stoke-on-Trent certainly falls into that category.

Crosswall construction was popular in the 1960s and 1970s and as such the non-traditional, fast-build properties are often in need of bringing up to modern standards. Problems posed in attempting to do so are wide ranging.

Using unique products such as Structherm EWI Solutions' SEWI and the award-winning ArtBrickTM render finish, the Westdale North team has rejuvenated the street and added value to the properties.

The updated finish was well received by the residents, and the homes were thermally upgraded, benefitting from added warmth, air tightness and energy efficiency. Thermal improvement and structural support have been achieved together.

The use of Artbrick has delivered a clean, bright and modern finish.

Westdale North director Mark Kelly attended a business roundtable event in Doncaster this morning, hosted by Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, and organised by Doncaster Chamber.

These MP roundtables provide a focused space for businesses to speak directly with decision-makers about the issues affecting them day to day.

This particular session with Mr Miliband offered an opportunity to reflect on the economic outlook, policy changes, and current conditions affecting businesses and organisations, with particular focus on the Doncaster and Yorkshire area.

It was also a chance for Mark to share key insights, concerns and issues from our sector.
