We are pleased to welcome two new members to the team at McGurk Architects.

Pierre Devlin joined us six weeks ago and brings over 10 years’ experience as an Architect, with a particular specialism in residential design. Having recently relocated to Magherafelt, Pierre is already settling in well—if you see him out and about locally, please do say hello.

We are also delighted to welcome Charlene McGuckin, who has joined the practice this week as an Administrative Assistant. Charlene will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the studio.

We wish both Pierre and Charlene every success in their roles and look forward to the contribution they will make to the continued growth of the practice.

Engaging with students from St Patrick’s College, Maghera and St Colm’s High School, Draperstown was a rewarding experience, offering an opportunity to demonstrate how design ideas are translated into built form.

Planning Approval Secured – St Teresa’s GAC, Belfast

We are pleased to confirm that planning permission has been granted for our latest sports and community project at St Teresa’s GAC, Belfast.

The approved scheme represents a significant investment in both sporting infrastructure and wider community wellbeing. The development includes:

• Refurbishment and extension of the existing pavilion to provide modern changing accommodation
• A new multi-use sports hall to support year-round training and community activities
• Repositioning and enhancement of the existing grass playing fields
• New floodlighting to extend safe and inclusive use
• A dedicated MUGA and wall ball alley
• A community walking trail to encourage everyday physical activity

The proposals have been carefully developed to strengthen the club’s role at the heart of the community, creating inclusive, accessible facilities for all ages and abilities.

This morning, we were delighted to deliver the football boots collected through our recent appeal to Street Soccer NI.

Street Soccer NI is a fantastic local charity that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged people across Northern Ireland, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, addiction, social exclusion and long-term unemployment. Through sport, they provide structure, support and opportunities for individuals who need it most.

Over the past number of months, we have been proud to run this collection in association with our Mid Ulster Sports Arena project in Cookstown, encouraging donations from the local community, clients and colleagues.

Thanks to the generosity of so many people, a substantial number of boots have now been passed on and will help ensure that participants can access training and programmes without financial barriers.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated and supported this appeal. Your kindness and generosity will make a real and lasting difference.

The scope of works includes the installation of a new passenger lift and accessible WC, together with associated mechanical and electrical works.
