Let's start deciphering with science-based targets.

Science-based targets are measurable, time‑bound greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions‑reduction goals that a company sets for its own operations and supply chain, committing to cut emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C above pre‑industrial levels.

SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative)
The global programme that helps companies set those targets and independently validates whether they are ambitious and credible enough against SBTi’s standards.

Central to our strategy for direct emissions is the electrification of our fleet, which accounts for over 90% of our Scope 1 emissions. We've already begun to see emissions reductions since starting the transition to hybrid and fully electric vehicle models.

We quite often use industry-specific terms. Here we shine a light on industry jargon.

Next up in the Think Energy Glossary: ESG.

ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. In simple words, it's a way of measuring how responsibly and sustainably a company operates, beyond just making profit.

Environmental (E): How the business impacts the planet, e.g. carbon emissions, energy use, waste, water use, and efforts to reduce pollution or switch to renewables.

Social (S): How the business treats people, employees, customers, suppliers, and communities. This includes fair wages, health and safety, diversity, human rights, and community support.

Governance (G): How the company is run, leadership quality, transparency, ethics, anti-corruption measures, board independence, and accountability to shareholders and other stakeholders.

Investors, customers, and regulators use ESG to judge a company's long-term risk and sustainability. Strong ESG performance suggests better management of environmental and social risks, and more trustworthy governance.

What is the secret behind Energy-as-a-Service operational efficiency?

We start with energy consultation before fulfilment. Our team assesses a site's actual requirements before we ever propose a solution, so the setup is right from day one rather than needing correction later.

We quite often use specific terms, like BESS, SBTi, ESG and so on.

But what do they actually mean?

We're starting the Think Energy Glossary, and the first term is Circular Economy.

Circular economy:
An economic system designed to eliminate waste and keep materials and products in use for as long as possible, instead of the traditional "take, make, use, throw away" model.

That means designing products to be durable and repairable, keeping materials in the economy through reuse, repair, and recycling, and restoring natural resources rather than just depleting them.

So instead of constantly extracting new raw materials and discarding old products, a circular economy tries to close the loop, turning what would be waste into resources for new products.

For example, at Think Hire, our batteries are engineered to last a long time, and even after that, they get a second life. Built for a 15-year usable life and repurposed once they reach 80% capacity rather than being scrapped.

Less waste, more value from every unit we deploy.

Remote resolution rates just hit a new high. 92% of operational issues across our fleet were resolved remotely this year, up from 87% last year.
