20 years of building across the Bay of Plenty.
Different styles. Different budgets. Talented architects to work alongside. And the best clients we could ask for.
Thank you to every one of you who trusted us with your home.

20 years between these photos. A fair bit has changed since then!

One thing we’ve always appreciated is how many of our clients recommend us to their friends and family.

We’ve been voted Bay of Plenty’s Most Trusted Architectural Builder for five years running, and we’d love to make it six.

If you think we’ve earned your vote, we’d really appreciate your support. Votes start fresh each year, so even if you’ve voted before, you’ll need to vote again.

Voting closes 1 November.

5 examples of space-optimising homes on compact sites.

Sections across the Bay are getting smaller. That does not have to mean a smaller home, or a compromised one.

Demolish and rebuild new. Subdivide and build a second home. Optimise a half site at the Mount. Maximum living on a minimal footprint.

If you are weighing up what your site can take, we can help you work through subdividing, renovating, extending or rebuilding, and what each option will really cost.

Pacific Views. Project update.

What’s possible on a compact site.

A tight section does not have to mean compromise. Fully wheelchair accessible throughout, we planned access into the whole house from the start, so it works for everyone who lives in it or visits. Thorne Group Homes Jon McAlpine Architecture Kathrine McDonald Interior Designer

Window seats.

A place to read, watch the weather come in, or do nothing at all. We build a lot of them, and no two are the same. Timber-lined, upholstered, with drawers underneath, with a blind that drops when the sun gets low. Thorne Group Homes Gezellig Interiors HERRIOT MELHUISH O'NEILL

A level threshold looks simple. Getting it right is not.

This home features French-pattern travertine tiles that continue through cedar double doors from outside to inside, with no step and no lip. Behind the scenes this involved shop drawings, templating and a lot of back and forth until it was spot on.
