We are immensely proud of our role in delivering the Merivale Community Centre. Thanks to Dave Merton and the Merivale Community Centre staff for their time.

A project like this reminds us that construction extends far beyond building. This centre has quickly become a heartbeat of the Merivale community,
and it's this social impact that is exactly what building is all about.

Collaboration at Every Level

The MASS 2 building at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology began with the challenge of an exceeded budget. Marra Construction worked closely with the client, design consultants, and subcontractors to develop value-engineered solutions that brought the project within reach.

The build included major groundworks and was paused early on due to significant archaeological discoveries. Marra collaborated with local iwi and Heritage New Zealand to ensure these were handled respectfully, while keeping the project moving. The result is a three-storey, multi-use learning facility delivered with care, flexibility, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Marra Construction has completed a full refurbishment and upgrade of existing classroom buildings. A project that touched nearly every layer of the buildings, from the ground up.

Works included partial demolition and replacement of floor coverings, wall linings, and external cladding. New joinery and selected structural element replacement. Full electrical systems upgrade with reinstatement of key services. New external decking, handrails, and roofing components. New floor finishes and ceiling tiles throughout. Construction of an infill structure connecting the classroom buildings.

Projects like this require tight sequencing. Demolition, structural work, building envelope, and fit-out all running in close coordination. The team delivered.

Proud of the work. More to come.

Project Throwback: Tauranga Intermediate 🏛️

We don't do many throwbacks, but this one deserves it.

Tauranga Intermediate is New Zealand's largest intermediate school and when the brief landed on our desk, it was clear this wasn't going to be a standard school build.

We built three learning pods. Each one is a large open-plan space built for 130 students which means the acoustic engineering alone was a serious puzzle to solve. Metal seamed cladding on the exterior, cedar detailing, modular interiors that teachers can actually reconfigure between lessons, and direct connections to outdoor learning courtyards.

The kind of build where every trade has to be across the vision, not just their scope.
It picked up some hardware along the way, and honestly it's still one of the projects our team talks about. Not because of the award but because you can walk in there and see kids actually using the space the way it was intended.

That doesn't happen by accident.

We are incredibly proud to be part of the team bringing the Rangitaiki College rebuild to life. This isn't just a construction project; it’s a complete reimagining of the school’s environment to better serve its students and the Edgecumbe community.

Marra Construction is officially on-site for Stage One, which includes a modern administration block, a new wellness centre, and specialised learning spaces. By utilising an innovative modular design, we’re able to assemble high-quality learning environments efficiently, ensuring the school has a vibrant, fit-for-purpose frontage.

We’re honoured to help build the "awa of learning" that will support this community for generations to come.

Office Refurbishment – Two-Storey Commercial Building

We recently completed a refurbishment of a two-storey office building affected by weathertightness failure. Works included extensive rotted timber remediation, full replacement of exterior cladding, and roof re-pitching to resolve longstanding water ingress issues.

Interior works comprised reconfigured office spaces, repainting, and installation of new air conditioning, fire alarms, data cabling, and electrical systems. Engaged closely with the architect and client throughout to assess remediation options and deliver the most cost-effective weathertightness solution.

We're building Gate Pā's new community centre.

The new facility at 13–15 Anzac Road is 500m² of carefully planned space: meeting rooms, a community kitchen, digital access points, and dedicated services.

We've completed demolition and site preparation. Main construction is underway, with completion targeted for late 2026.

We are enjoying working alongside Tauranga City Council and Gate Pā Community Centre Trust to deliver this project for the community.
