What happens when reliable electricity finally reaches underserved island communities?

In this ONE News interview, Quintin Jose Pastrana, President of Archipelago Renewables, and Director of Markets and Development, discusses how hybrid microgrids are helping reshape energy access across remote areas in the Philippines through a combination of solar PV, battery storage, smart distribution systems, and backup generation.

The conversation explores not only the technology behind microgrids, but also their long-term impact on local economies, tourism, education, healthcare, and community development. From improving energy reliability to supporting new business activity in remote areas, rural electrification continues to create opportunities beyond just power access.

The Maharlika Consortium’s ongoing rollout across Palawan, Quezon, and Cebu is expected to benefit more than 50,000 residents across underserved communities.

Rooftop solar creates measurable business value.

At T&C Manufacturing, WEnergy Global’s solar PV system generates more than 555,000 kWh of clean electricity per year, helping to reduce operating costs while lowering the company’s carbon footprint. The system is also expected to avoid around 255 metric tons of carbon emissions annually. This is what rooftop solar can do for industrial businesses: reduce energy costs, strengthen sustainability performance, and turn unused rooftop space into long-term value.

How much value could your rooftop be generating today?

Complex rooftops demand engineering that delivers value.

At T&C Manufacturing, WEnergy Global designed the solar PV system to work within strict structural load constraints and height regulations. Panels were carefully positioned to avoid overloading key building elements, while ensuring full compliance with Singapore’s regulatory requirements. Complex conditions do not limit solar potential, they define the need for precision.

Can your rooftop constraints be turned into a high-performing solar solution?
