Supporting children and families isn’t just something we talk about - it’s something our people live every day.

This video features two members of our BSI Engineering team whose commitment goes far beyond the workplace. Carolyn Thorngate, Principal/Senior Project Manager, also opens her home and her heart as a foster parent - offering stability, care, and advocacy during some of the most critical moments in a child’s life. Nick Long, Principal/Director of Business Development and Charity Committee Board Chair, helps guide our continued support of organizations that strengthen families and communities.

Their stories are a powerful reminder that real impact starts with compassion and action. We’re honored to partner with ProKids and to support the important work they do for children and families across our region.

Over the weekend, our team laced up and climbed for a purpose - participating in and sponsoring the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb in two cities.

From The Pru in Chicago to TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, team members took on hundreds of steps alongside others committed to raising awareness and funding for lung health. Every climb represented effort, teamwork, and support for a mission that matters.

We’re proud to stand behind this cause and to support events that create real, lasting impact in the communities we serve - one step at a time.

We love seeing our engineers inspire the next generation. 👏

Our Senior Mechanical Engineer, David B., recently volunteered at Aurora Schools Enrichment Day, sharing real‑world engineering insights with students and helping turn curiosity into possibility. From hands‑on learning to career exploration, the day gave students exposure to experiences they don’t always find in the classroom.

Giving back through education and mentorship is part of who we are - and we’re proud to have team members like Dave representing engineering in the community.

Thank you to Aurora City School District (Indiana) and all the volunteers who made this “career day on steroids” such a meaningful experience for students.

For BSI, Canstruction brings together what they do best — engineering, creativity, and teamwork — while supporting a cause that matters in the community.

With a build-day vibe of fun creative teamwork, the team is excited to apply their engineering mindset in a way that creates meaningful impact beyond their day-to-day work.
