FRC Team 4201, The Vitruvian Bots The Vitruvian Bots is a team of over 70 students from Da Vinci Science high school in El Segundo, CA

The Vitruvian Bots is a team of 40 students who create a robot every year. Although the requirements for the robot change yearly, one thing remains the same: students on our team receive a real-world, creative experience with STEM at its core. Like all FRC teams, The Vitruvian Bots gives its members a place to appply their love for math, science, and, of course, robotics. What makes our team diffe

rent is our integration of robotics into the tight-knit community of our school, our ties with our sister elementary school, and our dedication to both form and function. It is for this reason that we are not just a group of kids making a robot, but a group of scholars, working to build a better future.

Team 4201 has taught me how to become more confident in both myself and my ideas. Being on this team for 4 years has definitely taken a lot of time, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding parts of my high school experience. There is something really different about being on a team where everyone is working toward the same goal and actually willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen. In the process, I ended up meeting some of my closest friends, whether it was through the 6 AM early mornings, doing karaoke on the bus, or even pressing thousands of buttons to give out at competitions. This team also helped me grow a lot as a leader and collaborator, especially in learning how to speak up, share my ideas more confidently, and actually trust myself to lead a team of students. It’s something I know I’ll carry into everything I do next, even if it isn’t directly robotics related. -Rania, 2026

I don’t know who I would be without 4201. In my freshman year, it gave me a family that I could be with at a new school. My sophomore year, it taught me how to persevere through difficult times, even if things end poorly. My junior year, it showed me that it’s okay to change your mind and start anew. And for my senior year, I learned to keep going for the people that depend on me, even when I’m exhausted. Every year has formed me into a better person. -Autumn, 2026

Team 4201 has impacted me in so many ways, the most notable is by providing me with essential skills I will use after high school. I started in freshman year very introverted and not very social. Being on 4201 I’ve had so many opportunities to practice my public speaking, interact with people from all over, and answer questions in an interview-like environment. I have also gained a strong work ethic, learned from mistakes, celebrated success, and pushed forward after failures. Being on the team for 4 years, 4201 has become an impacting factor on my high school experience as a whole, providing me with so many friendships and amazing memories that I will remember forever. -River, 2026
