Kittelson has 30 geographic locations around the United States, so we know a thing or two about the many different landscapes across the country. 🗺️

Our DC office intern, Patrick Gaucher, tested that knowledge with a lunchtime GeoGuessr Throwdown. Our east coast teams competed to see who could pinpoint locations around the world. 📍

Check out the throwdown below. ⬇️

Turns out, "touching base" isn't just a work thing. ⚾

Our Baltimore office enjoyed a summer outing at an Orioles v. White Sox game, our Philadelphia office went to see the Phillies, and our Bend office spent an evening cheering on the Bend Elks baseball team!

It's always nice to get out of the office and learn that the Venn diagram of baseball slang and corporate slang is a circle. 🤔

Great transportation planning starts by listening. 👂

Our team hosted a public meeting in Cranston, Rhode Island to discuss updates to zoning that could support more transit-oriented, mixed-use development.

Public meetings like these create space for residents, business owners, and community members to ask questions, share ideas, and help guide decisions that affect their daily lives.

🚲 Happy Bike & Roll to School Day! 🚲
Remember the thrill of learning to ride a bike for the first time? That feeling of joy and independence stays with you. 🌞

As transportation planners and engineers, our job is to support the same sense of adventure by drawing attention to road safety needs in our communities. We can do that by designing spaces separated from cars, lowering driving speeds, and creating shorter crossing distances so children can get to school safely. 🚸

Today (and every day), let's work together to promote safe, active travel for the kids in our communities! 🌟

As a transportation engineering and planning firm, biking is very important to us. A large portion of our team bikes to work every day, many of our offices are certified Bike Friendly Businesses, and we work on lots of projects that improve bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. So, when comes around, we get excited. 🤗

We love planning and designing safe, comfortable bicycle facilities in our communities to help folks get around in a fun, active way. This month, we'll be highlighting all things biking. So stay tuned and happy riding! 🚲

🌟 Specialist Appreciation Week 🌟

Bird watching, teaching, and community building, oh my! Jo Fernbrook is a senior office administrator in our Portland office who works behind the scenes with our team all over the country to provide positive, productive, and supportive environments for everyone at the firm.

Their background in education gives them strong organizational and interpersonal skills that help them wrangle the details of multiple offices in the same way they once managed the many moving parts of a classroom. In their spare time, Jo can be found bird watching, exploring nature, and making art. 🤝

"The admin team plays an important role in shaping how things function at Kittelson, and it’s rewarding to know that our work makes an impact."

🌟 Specialist Appreciation Week 🌟

For Randall Chesson—senior marketing coordinator in Raleigh—assembling a marketing proposal and crafting one-of-a-kind pens and bowls go hand in hand. Both are a creative outlet that leave a lasting impression. Randall finds a lot of fulfillment in his role because it blends strategy, storytelling, and collaboration.

He appreciates staying connected with teammates in different offices working together on proposals and serving on the safety committee. In his free time, he enjoys working on his wood lathe and is deeply involved in his church community. 🎨

"Being part of a team that contributes to meaningful change gives me a strong sense of purpose."

They each reflect the character and values Crystal Phillips brings to her work as one of our dedicated HR professionals in Florida. For Crystal, approaching every situation with empathy and humanity is one of the most important aspects of her job.

She enjoys solving problems and removing roadblocks to help our team focus on doing what they do best. Outside of work, you can find Crystal hiking, weightlifting, and spending quality time with her children.
