Our Co-Founder and CEO, Aaron Tartakovsky, joined Molly Wood on the Everybody in the Pool podcast to talk about why buildings should be recycling their water.

Buildings account for roughly 15% of global freshwater use, yet very few reuse the water they already have. At the same time, water and sewer rates in many major cities are rising. By recycling water where it’s used, buildings can reduce freshwater demand, wastewater discharge, and utility costs..

We’re proud to see Epic Cleantec featured as one of six case studies in UpLink – World Economic Forum’s new Community Paper: Making Water Innovation Work: Enabling Large-Scale Deployment. 💧🌎

The report explores a challenge we know well: how do we move proven water solutions beyond the pilot stage and deploy them at scale?

Drawing on six case studies, including Epic’s work advancing onsite water reuse, the paper examines the critical role of demand, validation, procurement, financing, and real-world evidence in accelerating adoption.

Scaling water innovation takes more than technology. It requires collaboration across the entire ecosystem, from building owners and utilities to investors, policymakers, and technology providers.

We had a great time teaming up with SERA Architects for an evening of water reuse education as part of Sustainable Building Week in Portland!

After the course, the conversation continued with a tour of SERA’s Portland office, light bites, and happy hour libations of all types, including our recycled water b**r. 🍻

We’re thrilled to share that Epic Cleantec’s OneWater™ Rain system has been named a winner of the 2026 Metropolis Magazine Planet Positive Awards in the Technology category! 🏆

OneWater™ Rain captures, treats, and reuses rainwater and HVAC condensate to create a renewable onsite water supply for uses like irrigation, toilet flushing, cooling towers, and laundry. By putting water that would otherwise flow into city drains to work, the system can help conserve potable water, mitigate urban flooding, and reduce pressure on aging infrastructure.

This recognition celebrates an idea at the heart of everything we do at Epic: buildings can play an active role in creating a more resilient water future.

“Every gallon we redirect reduces pressure on natural sources.” 💧

A recent feature from Hawaii Business Magazine takes a closer look at Hawai‘i’s growing water challenges and the role onsite water reuse can play in building a more resilient water future.

The article highlights Kuilei Place in Honolulu, where Epic Cleantec is working alongside Kobayashi Group, LLC, Commercial Plumbing Inc., and other local partners to deliver Hawai‘i’s first onsite residential greywater reuse system. The system is expected to recycle up to 30,000 gallons of water per day, saving approximately 11 million gallons of potable water each year.r.

As Hawai‘i faces declining rainfall, drought, and increasing pressure on its aquifers, projects like this demonstrate how buildings can become part of the solution by treating water as a resource to be reused, rather than waste to be sent away.
