A customer said that to us on a recent site visit. The site is producing biogas, but not yet using it for power generation.
Here's the thing about producing biogas: the most expensive part of a CHP project is already done.

CHP runs that gas through an onsite engine to generate electricity and recover heat for process loads. One fuel, two useful outputs.

It's not every day you see a 20 cylinder engine.

This is the engine inside a 2G CHP unit, built for sites that need serious power and heat output around the clock.

It runs on gas to generate electricity, and the heat that would normally be lost from the exhaust, engine block, and cooling circuits gets captured and sent wherever the site needs it.

One fuel in. Electricity and heat out. That's cogeneration.

A year on from commissioning, the 1.5 MW Avus CHP unit at Australian Consolidated Milk's Victorian milk processing site is ticking along nicely. Our techs were out recently for routine servicing.

The system is targeting a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions for the site, with a second gas train ready for biogas as it becomes available.

The sites that benefit most from on-site CHP are the ones that never switch off.

Wastewater plants, food processors, aquatic centres, manufacturing facilities. They run continuously, with constant demand for both power and heat. That's the profile where on-site generation pays back, because every hour the system is running, you're displacing grid electricity, capturing waste heat that would otherwise be lost, and reducing exposure to rising grid prices.

A single fuel source produces two useful outputs: electricity plus hot water, steam, or cooling. The more your site runs, the better the economics get.

Grid independence isn't about disconnecting from the grid. It's about needing less of it, year after year.

Two of these can run an entire HDPE piping plant. No grid required.

This is Acu-Tech Piping Systems' Redbank facility in QLD. Two 2G Avus 1000 Plus CHP engines, now generating power and heat on-site from natural gas. The old diesel generator is retired, which is just as well: diesel prices climbed sharply while the project was being built.

A good decision when it was made. A great one by commissioning day.

We're pleased to announce that Dr Tamer Turna will be presenting on behalf of EvoET at the Australian Data Centres Power & Water Summit in Sydney, 10 to 11 June 2026.

Tamer is Managing Director of Data Centre Solutions at 2G Energy AG, our exclusive Australian technology partner. He brings 37 years of international experience, with work across 88 countries and more than 110 GW of installed capacity. His career includes senior engineering, CEO, and board-level roles at Caterpillar Power Ventures, MVV Energie, E.ON, Karpowership, and Bloom Energy.

His presentation will focus on decentralised energy for data centres, including CHP, trigeneration, fuel cells, and heat pumps. For anyone working on power and cooling at scale, it will be a session worth attending.

Compute demand isn't waiting for the grid to catch up.

New data centre builds across Australia are stalling on one thing: grid capacity. Network augmentation can take years. The compute roadmap doesn't have years.

The 2G Power Island closes that gap. Onsite gas-powered generation, modular from 2 to 100+ MW, deployed in under 12 months from order.

Containerised and relocatable. Run it as primary power until your grid connection arrives, then demobilise and redeploy to the next site. No stranded asset.
